Black Footed Ferret Baculum
Description: The black-footed ferret is a member of the weasel family (mustelids). It has a long neck and black markings on its face, the tip of its tail and on its feet. It is very quick and agile and is most active at night (nocturnal). Ferrets grow up to 2 feet in length (including a 6 inch tail) and weigh approximately 2 to 3 pounds. Approximately a thousand black-footed ferrets live in captivity at breeding facilities, while another 80 exist in the wild following release by the federal government. Black-footed ferrets have been known to live up to 12 years in captivity. The black-footed ferret was once found throughout the eastern and southern Rockies and the Great Plains. Prairie dog towns of the plains and plateaus are also home to the black - footed ferrets, who utilize their burrows for shelter and travel. Prairie dogs make up the main staple of the ferret’s diet although they occasionally eat mice and other small animals. In the wild, black-footed ferrets spend 99 percent of their time underground. During the night they hunt for sleeping prairie dogs in their burrows. Sometimes prairie dogs attack as a group and drag a ferret underground.

Walrus Baculum Set
Description: The brown coat of hair can be quite thin, and in older individuals the skin is completely bare. Insulation is provided by a layer of fat about two to three inches thick. There are many stiff whiskers across the snout, no external ear, and the upper canines form two tusks that can reach a length of three feet, causing the entire structure of the cranium to be altered. The other 18 to 24 teeth are similar to each other. The walrus male grows over twelve feet long, and weighs up to 2600 pounds, with the female 80% of the length and 50% of the weight of the male. This gregarious species lives in large groups. It spends much of the day sleeping on the ice. It usually flees if attacked, but there have been cases of walruses attacking the boats of Eskimos. A cow, in particular, will vigorously defend her young. It feeds largely on mollusks, which it may wrench from the seabed with its tusks.

Elephant Seal Baculum (Mirounga Angustirostris)
Description: This is the largest of the pinniped carnivores. The male is dark gray, the female is browner. The proboscis, which functions in social and sexual display, is formed by muscular sacs which can be erected either by blood pressure or by air. In adult males the proboscis increases in size during the breeding season. Total length of the male of this seal is over twenty one feet, and it weighs an incredible four tons! The female is about 50% of the length and 25% of the weight of the male. The reproductive period begins in September when the male comes ashore; the females follow. Harems of 40 to 50 females are formed, and larger harems of up to 100 have been observed. The males do not eat, because they are constantly defending their harem against rival males. This defense may involve only threatening postures, but there may be bloody duels fought with their large upper canines. When they do eat, squid is the primary item in their diet.
